Where to find discount fencing gear
Fencing gear isn't cheap, but you rarely need to pay full retail ,
especially for a beginner. Six ways families actually save:
Buy a starter bundle, not pieces
Every major supplier sells beginner sets that bundle mask+jacket+glove+weapon for less than buying each separately. ShopUSAFencing and Absolute both do weapon-specific kits.
Ask the club about a group order
Clubs place bulk orders and pass on the discount. Ask the front desk, you may save 10-20% and get sizing help.
Buy used from the club board / parents
Kids outgrow jackets and knickers fast, so lightly-used gear is everywhere. Ask your club, check its parent Facebook group, and fencing-specific resale groups. Never buy a used mask that's dented or has a rusty mesh.
Use your USA Fencing membership
Some suppliers give member discounts, and a competitive membership is needed to compete anyway.
Wait for end-of-season and Black Friday
Suppliers clear stock after the competitive season (late spring) and over Black Friday. If you're not in a rush, it's real money saved.
Don't over-buy electric gear early
Body cords, lamés and electric weapons cost 2-3× the dry versions. You only need them once you're scoring bouts, beginners fence 'dry' for months.
Still worth repeating: the cheapest gear is the gear you don't buy yet. Let the club lend you the basics,
